BIO

New York native, Jacqueline Popovic, entwines art, couture, and nature into her craft. She attended Parsons School of Design and was a Thesis finalist for, “Marketed Imitations: Investigation of the Synthetic Diamond Industry”, which led to her exploration of semi-precious stones.

Her artistry oscillates in the juxtaposition between the old and the new. Studying depth, layer, and texture she combines century old techniques such as needlepoint and sculpting with the latest 3D printing and laser cutting technologies, to express multidimensional perspectives.

Jacqueline’s most recent series highlights classic icons, playfully immortalized in semi-precious stones and minerals that are thousands of years old set against a transparent modern acrylic. The contrast between the irregular rough-cut, organic nature of the stones and the level contemporary plexiglass examines the duality of the authentic and the synthetic and how these featured icons embody this intrinsic polarity.

Popovic’s work has been shown at London Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz Swim Week, the Tiffany and Co. 175th Anniversary Blue Book Ball, Surface and The Lodge Gallery. Her costume-wear has garnered international press attention with editorial content featured in The London Times, Vogue Japan, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Huffington Post Style, The Miami Herald, among others.

Her upcoming collection will deconstruct and illuminate the interplay between the auric field, the emotional body and human anatomy.
